Sewing Session Reminder

At our last meeting Barb S. did a demonstration on this fun little purse.  Barb will be offering assistance to anyone who would like to make this purse at our sewing session on Monday, August 1.

The purse design has a very clever way of putting in the zipper.  Once the zipper is in, all of the zipper and fabric edge will be neatly enclosed by fabric!

Barb explains the purse construction to Sue.

If you are planning to come to the sewing session to work on this fun purse, please bring the following supplies:
Your regular sewing supplies and sewing machine.
3 fat quaters, OR scraps as follows:
Same Fabric: one 8 x10 back bottom & one 8 x 5 front
Next fabric:  one 8 x 15 front bottom & one8 x 13 for pocket
Lining and batting: 8 x 10 of each
One purse strap 2 x 42 (or if using fat quaters cut two 2 x 22 pieces)
One coordinating nylon zipper at least 12 inches long

See you there!

July Show and Tell

What a bunch of talented ladies we have in our guild.  I must say that the Show & Tell's are very inspiring.

Carole shows her "Summer Sunflowers" quilt.

Hydrangea Garden was also made by Carole.  It has a very interesting scalloped edge.  How stunning.

Kris shows her Mystery quilt in lovely shades of green.

Missy shows "Katie's Quilt", which was also one of our many fun Mystery Quilts.  She used a lot of fun doggie fabrics in her design.

Sheila made her Mystery Quilt in autumn shades.
What a very nice bunch of quilts!

Your Mystery Fairy Godmother & Quilt Labels

At our last meeting Deb showed this fun little paper pieced Fairy Godmother wall hanging.  If you go to Paper Panache, and answer a few questions, your very own Mystery Fairy Quilt Godmother (with a unique name) will be revealed.  Deb's Fairy Godmother is Whackzlizara.  So go have a little fun and check it out!

Deb had also talked about a site where you could go to find labels that you can print for free.  They offer a nice label with a soldier on it that would work nice for a quilt made for a soldier.
Thanks Deb,
Laurie

Last of the June Show and Tell

Judy shows her "Rag Time" quilt that she made for a gift.

At Judy's FDL quilt group they had a 5 inch block exchange, and she mde these two neat pint sized quilts from her squares.

The second mini.

Barb shows her very pretty Mystery Quilt.  Isn't is fun to see all of these quilts?

Peg shows a baby quilt that she has made for a friend.

Kathy shows her "Over the River" quilt.  What lovely embroidery and pieced blocks.

I apologize that it has taken me so long to get all of the photos posted from our JUNE Show and Tell.

AQS Knoxville Winners

If you would like to view the Knoxville winners, take a peek!  It is always fun to see the winners from the big shows.  As most of you know the American Quilter's Society holds several big shows every year, Paducah Kentucky, Lancaster Pennsylvania, Des Moines Iowa and Knoxville Tennesee.  I have heard that this is the last year for the show in Knoxville, and that next year it will be held in Grand Rapids Michigan instead.
One thing I enjoyed looking at of the Knoxville winners was the quilts that ribboned in their "Ultimate Guild Challenge".  Maybe that is something our guild would like to participate in sometime???  I certainly think we always turn out a wonderful selection of quilts in our challenges, and that might be fun to try to get into one of the "big shows"!  Think about it ladies, as I have the rules from AQS for that challenge.  Any theme suggestions??

Sew Much More Presentation

It has been some time since our last post.  I guess with work and summer activities the time just seems to fly by!
At our June meeting, Jane from Sew Much More in Crivitz, came to show us some new products from market, as well as update members on what was new in the shop.  It was an enjoyable presentation.
Members look over some of the new products that Jane brought in, and purchases were made.

A very hot new item is the angel scissors!  Jane said that many women are collecting these cuties.

This neat purse was made using a product called Texture Magic, which is a steam activated substance that adds neat texture to fabric.  Sew Much More is offering a class in September for this project.  Check out their website if you would like to make this fun purse.

Members enjoying shopping and looking at the new products.  Be sure to go visit Vicky and Jane at Sew Much More to see all of the happening in their shop!
