Memorial Weekend Activities

The Pine Needle Quilter's have been busy lately.  On Sunday of Memorial Weekend members, families and friends carried quilts in the Mountain Memorial Day Parade.  This year members made 61 quilts to be given to soldiers!  That is a really wonderful number of quilts, thank you to everyone who made quilts!  That brings out total number of quilts given to soldiers up to 394! I had to work the day of the parade, but looking at the pictures, I have to say how nice it is to see our young family members and friends helping to carry the quilts in the parade.  Thank you to everyone who helped with the parade in any way.
On Monday, Memorial Day a group gathered at Tabor Lutheran Church to display the quilts over church pews.  Following the Memorial Day Cemetery Service there, those attending the service came to see the quilts that our guild had made.  There were many nice comments on the quilts by those who saw them. They are just such an awesome site when they are all together like that! Thank you to the crew who helped at the church, and then packed them up to be delivered.  And thanks for delivering them too!
Thanks to all who helped in ANY way with this project.  It takes a lot of planning and helpers to carry out this project.  I just know that they will be cherished by those who receive them.
Deb had sent me photos from the parade and church, so I have assembled a photo album for you, so
check out the really nice Memorial Weekend pictures here.
