Memorials Day Reminder

Seams and Scissors blog offers links to sewing projects, clothing and quilting projects.  Theres a whole lot to check out here.  Many cute and quick picnic quilt ideas here.  Here is a link to many, many geometric patterns which is what piecing is all about!  Seams and Scissors is a great place to spend a morning gathering ideas for future projects.

Bonjour Quilts is just one of my favorite bloggers. Kirsty has a steady stream of tutorials and patterns on her blog.  She offers patterns for sale and also free patterns.  I have made the Scrappy Cross Block and used her tutorials for this.  It was a great way to use some scraps and make a colorful quilt.  There are more of her ideas I am going to try for sure.

Freemotion by the River is a website with tutorials and patterns for sale.  Connie has a lot of good ideas.  I spent a lot time looking at them all!

A reminder about Memorial Day.  There is the service at Mountain Cemetary on Memorial Day starting at 9:30.  This is by Tabor Lurtheran Church in Mountain.  We will set up a display in the church before the service so please bring any quilts you are finishing up to the church.  This is a very nice service so hope to see you there to honor our veterans.  Also, a huge thank you to everyone who made quilts for this worthy cause and for presenting them to our new recruits who are just graduating.

Wonderful Blogs for May

Hope everyone celebrated the beautiful weather and had a great Mother's Day.  Did you get to sew a little or find a little time for yourself?

The Amy Barickman website and blog is kinda different.  It has a lot of free content that are vintage images and also downloads of embroidery and sewing.  Most all of it looks vintage.  Here is the link to quilt label images and also some of the embroidery patterns to download.  I love the vintage stuff.

The Crafty Quilter has a lot of cute things to see and sew.  Those orange peels are really cute. Her tutorials are great and especially those Christmas ones!

Better Off Thread has a lot of big bright projects for you to see.  The colors are so inspiring.  Her free tutorials are here and please take a look at her shop patterns.  Some look like a challenge but a wonderful challenge.

Suzy Quilts has some great stories and one about barn quilts.  Here are her free patterns. Here are tutorials on how to sew with various fabrics and weights of fabrics.

Podunk Pretties is an unusual name but has pretty things to see.  She has some great flower patterns and butterflies to go with them.

Tonight is our meeting so am looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Something to Do While We Wait for Spring

Here are a few quick links to some fun projects.  Fabric Mutt has a super cute pillow pattern.  She has lots of tutorials and a book too.

Love the Mae Daisy quilt from Fabric Relish. This pattern reminds me of spring.

If you need a pretty tote, the Fort Worth Fabric Studio has a simple one to handle all your purchases or carrying your sewing to our sewing sessions on the first Monday of each month.

I thought these embroidery hoop projects were so cute. Tinker With This used her fabric very cleverly and this would be a great hand sewing project.  Enjoy your quilting time and I hope we get some more sun!

AQS Show Paducah Winners

The quilt show in Paducah was just wonderful this year!  So nice to be able to go and spend time in warm temps and beautiful flowers!
The quilt show and quilt museum were most inspiring.  You will be able to view some of this years winners here.
This year, for the first time, they will also be holding a show in Paducah in the fall.
My sister particularly loved this quilt, it was called Celtic Fox made by Kathy McNeil, it was just delightful!  If you would like to check out more of Kathy McNeil's quilt gallery and tutorials check out her website,
