Blossom Heart Quilts has started a new BOM quilt along called Milky Way. It is a paper pieced block each month and they look like a lot of potential for fabrics and colorways. These blocks are 10" and of varying levels of intricacy but all are accomplished by paper piecing. You must download each paper before the end of the month so you must download January real soon! The link takes you to Craftsy which then allows you to download it for free. I really think this will make up into a pretty quilt and hope you take a look at it.
The double arrow block from Simple Simon and Co. is very pretty. January is the month of looking into the past and then looking forward into the new year so this arrow pointing both directions seems appropriate.
Fresh Lemon Quilts has a wonderful page of free patterns. There are a lot of good ideas on these pages. Enjoy.

New BOMs for 2017
Ricky Tims is starting a new "club" for a BOM called the Legacy Club. It is a design for quilt that he designed for a a play called The Quilters. You will get a pattern for the next 20 months so go visit Ricky's Legacy Club and check out his quilt and his beautiful fabrics that you could purchase for this pattern.
Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts has designed a wonderful Christmas BOM that will go through this year. Her designs are very nice and definitely look like Christmas. Love that deer. I think this is one I have to do.
Here is a link to photos of the Tokyo Quilt Festival by Okan Arts. I didn't realize that this was the largest quilt show in the world.

Kentucky Quilters
I found a wonderful video on YouTube about quilting traditions in Kentucky. It was made in 1971 so the fashions and hairdos are quite nostalgic but I especially liked the lady who had a different description of handwork; she called it finger work which really makes more sense to me. I hope you enjoy the Kentucky Quilters. They seem to represent such a gentle time.
