Pine Needle Quilter's Receive 2013 Patriot Award

It was a proud moment for our group on March 10th, when we received  the 2013 Patriot Award from the Desert Veteran's of Wisconsin.
Since 2007 we have been making quilts to be given to our service men and women.  The first 4 years we sent 225 quilts to the Carl R. Darnell Medical Center at Ft. Hood,Texas.
For the past 2 years we have given our quilts to Karen Kussow, who's son Chad died serving our country.  It was his wish that Care
Packages be sent to his fellow deployed soldiers, knowing how much a gift from home can mean, when you are so far away from your loved ones.
So far, the Pine Needle Quilter's have given a total 333 quilts to our soldiers.
It is so exciting and humbling to receive such a wonderful award from the Desert Veterans of Wisconsin for dedication to our deployed soldiers.  I am sure that through your kind gifts of your quilts, you have brought comfort to many.....kind of like sending a hug from home.
Congratulations ladies!
Laurie
